‘Hidden’ lungs found in Borneo frogs

This discovery may change the perception of the Kalimantan barburula as an exceptional species without lungs. Biologists will continue to study the respiratory system of this frog to better understand how it adapted to life in cold waters. Perhaps this discovery will also help answer questions about the influence of the environment on the evolution of animals and their adaptation to extreme living conditions.
