Modern technologies in the field of brain interfaces open up new opportunities for people with speech impairments. The University of California recently unveiled its latest project – an implant that helped a paralyzed man regain the ability to speak not only his native Spanish, but also English.

This man, whose life was changed by a stroke, was faced with the loss of his ability to speak due to damage to his brain stem. His cognitive abilities were not affected, but his control of his vocal apparatus was severely limited. That is why he agreed to become a participant in a study with a neural interface.
